Whose Sabbath,
Yours or Theirs?
Have you ever scolded
someone or raised your voice at them, or chased them away
because they weren't Godly enough for you. Maybe they did not
wish to follow your rules, beliefs or standards on how to
worship God? What is the truth? Is the truth in you? Are
they wrong...or do they not have as Godly of thinking as you
think you do? Do you act like a Pharisee and try to force your
worship traditions and rules on them?
Before you try to tell someone how to worship, when to worship,
what day of the week to worship or for them to set aside for
Sabbath, you really ought to prune your own orchard. The fruit
on your trees may need to be inspected. Have you forgot that you
are a sinner, probably worse than the person you are correcting
because to whom more is given, much more is expected. You
have decided that much much much more has been given to you, but
your 'much more is expected' part is lacking, lacking, lacking.
Therefore, you may want to get busy correcting the many
issues you have, instead of worrying about who is doing what,
when or where on the day you have decided should be celebrated
as their Sabbath. Someone else's Sabbath was not
made for you. It was made for them. The Pharisees did not do do
what they expected of others, do you? It's always easier to talk
the walk then it is when it comes to walking the talk.
The Pharisees made a long list of Sabbath Day rules which they
believed would make the Sabbath day more holy. The problem with
their rules was they were made by man, not God, but they were
treated as God's rules. The rules became an item of worship
themselves. They were strictly enforced and penalties were to be
paid if and when they were not followed to the letter.
Yesterday, the Pharisees tried to force their Sabbath rules on
Jesus. Today, you try to force your Sabbath rules on many others
on many occasions.
In the New Testament,
Jesus said to the Pharisees that the Sabbath was made for man,
not man for the Sabbath.
You make up your own
rules that decree when others should go to church, You then try
to force those rules on others by giving them ultimatums if the
rules are not followed? Do you live your Christian life and
allow others to worship as they worship, or do they have to
worship the way you think they should? How important is it to
you that others follow your guidelines for what you have decided
the Sabbath is? Is going to church on one day of the week is not
as good as going on another?
When someone works on Sunday do you take over God's duties and
raise your voice at them and tell them their job is not of God?
How do you know that? Have you made yourself God? Maybe,
but its only in your own mind. Have you decided not to allow man
to work on Sunday? Who decided that Sunday was the Sabbath
anyway? What year did the Roman Catholic Church make the decree
declaring Sunday to be the Sabbath? Was it around 343 A.D.
You have not even set these rules for Sabbath Day. The Modern
Day Pharisees did. But you are certainly using them as a
prop in your transparent act of holiness.
