Lies…

When I tell a lie, it doesn’t matter how big it is or how small it is, I am telling a lie. Very soon, that lie will be proven a lie. I have a choice at this time. I can create a cover lie to verify the authenticity of the first lie, or I can stand the embarrassment of being caught lying. My creditability will suffer when I am caught.

The cover lie will lead to a third, and then a fourth and fifth, all to cover the first lie, which in most cases was the smallest of the bunch. They keep getting bigger.

So, the first little lie causes a bunch of bigger lies to follow. When the group of lies prove themselves to be lies, my reputation will be destroyed and “liar” will be engraved or tattooed all over me. No one will believe anything I tell them. And it all started with just one little lie.

Sometimes the truth hurts, but not as much as it does when a group of lies gang up on you. Its always easier to take the suffering from the truth than it is to take the whipping your testimony will take from the lies.

Someone once said, “A good lie is 99% true.” This is full of fact. One word can change the truth to a lie. If you don’t have the truth you can’t tell the truth. The only way you can tell the truth is to find it first. Jesus is called the truth.
