The Kingdom or the kingdom?
Written by Carl A Davenport
Inspired by God

If everyone did whatever they did with consideration of the effect it will have on others, we would live in a better world. Everyone would be doing for others instead of for self. Drug dealers would not sell drugs because the drugs harm others. Thieves would not steal because others would lose when they steal. Murderers would not kill. We would live in a lot nicer world if everyone would was out to do for others instead of being out to do for themselves. There would be no crime, no greed, no hate, nothing but love for one another.

The next time you are about to do something, look at your motive. You will, most likely, see your motive has direct ramifications for nobody but you.  They will always favor only you, and the benefit for you is the only reason you are doing whatever it is you are doing. If you are selfish and self-centered, go ahead and please yourself. Get all the material you can get, and get all the praise of man you can get.  Pleasing yourself and getting praise for what you do is what you're all about anyway. You only care for what you want and will do whatever you have to do to get it. So, go get it. You will enjoy it for a season, until bondage comes. Then you will be miserable. Your acting in such selfishness has brought you into bondage many times. What's one more.

Let's compare you to Jesus. Jesus did everything for others and nothing for self. He never had self in mind at anytime. He was about love. Love is the opposite of selfishness. He has love, you have selfishness. There is love in the Kingdom of God. There is no selfishness in the Kingdom of God.

Those who are full of selfishness are not of the Kingdom of God. They are on that wide path to destruction and eternal fire. The Kingdom of God is about serving others. You are about serving yourself. Jesus said those who want to be first will be last, and those who want to be last will be first.

The Kingdom of God is about truth. You are about using the truth only when it is to your advantage. Romans 1:18 says, For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.

The Kingdom of God is not about sexual immorality. You think about sex when ever you look at a member of the opposite sex. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Well, maybe we shouldn't compare you to Jesus. You have none of His qualities. Each of us could learn a lesson, a valuable lesson, from Jesus about how to become a part of the Kingdom of God. We need to do whatever we do to glorify Him, not glorify ourselves. When we glorify Him, we are storing up treasures for our future in the Kingdom of God. We need to take glorifying ourselves out of everything we do and put glorifying Jesus into everything we do.

Think of your motive before you do anything. If your motive isn't to glorify God or spread His word, then you act is not worth doing because it is not a act of the Kingdom of God. And...if its not about the Kingdom of God, its about the other kingdom. There are only two, one is The Kingdom and the other is the kingdom. Which one does your thoughts and actions glorify?
