Proverbs
Chapter 2
1 My
son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments
with thee;
Prov 4:21 Let them not depart
from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
2 So
that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply
thine heart to understanding;
3
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up
thy voice for understanding;
4 If
thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for
hid treasures;
Prov 3:14 For the merchandise
of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and
the gain thereof than fine gold.
Matt 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven
is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man
hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth
all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
5
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find
the knowledge of God.
6
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh
knowledge and understanding.
1 Kings 3:9 Give therefore thy
servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I
may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge
this thy so great a people?
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth
not; and it shall be given him.
7 He
layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a
buckler to them that walk uprightly.
Psalms 84:11 For the LORD God
is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and
glory: no good thing will he withhold from them
that walk uprightly.
8
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of
his saints.
1 Sam 2:9 He will keep the
feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in
darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
Psalm 66:9 Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth
not our feet to be moved.
9
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and
equity; yea, every good path.
10
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is
pleasant unto thy soul;
11
Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep
thee:
Prov 6:22 When thou goest, it
shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and
when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
12
To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from
the man that speaketh froward things;
13
Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of
darkness;
John 3:19
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the
world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because
their deeds were evil.
14
Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the
frowardness of the wicked;
Jer 11:15 What hath my beloved
to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought
lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee?
when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
Romans 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they
which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do
the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
15
Whose ways are crooked, and they froward
in their paths:
Psalms 125:5 As for such as
turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them
forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace
shall be upon Israel.
16
To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from
the stranger which flattereth with her words;
Prov
5:3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an
honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
5:20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange
woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
17
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the
covenant of her God.
Mal 2
14 Yet ye say,
Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee
and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt
treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the
wife of thy covenant.
15 And did not he
make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And
wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore
take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously
against the wife of his youth.
18
For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the
dead.
Prov 7:27 Her house
is the way to
hell, going down to the chambers of death.
19
None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold
of the paths of life.
20
That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and
keep the paths of the righteous.
21
For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect
shall remain in it.
22
But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the
transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
Psalms 37:29 The righteous
shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
