Proverbs Chapter 9


1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

Matt 16:18  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Eph 2:20  And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

1 Pet 2:5  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

Matt 22:4  Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

Prov 23:30  They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

Rom 10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Prov 8
1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
2 She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
9:14  For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

Psalm 19:7  The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Prov 6:32  But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

Sol 5:1  I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.

Isaiah 55:1  Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

John 6:27  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Matt 7:6  Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Ps 145:5  Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Matt 13:12  For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Job 28:28  And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. 

Prov 1:7  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

Prov 3
2   For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
16  Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

Job 35
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

Prov 16:26  He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

13 A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

Prov 7
11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)

 14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

Prov 9:3  3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:

16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

Prov 7
7  And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

Prov 20:17  Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

Prov 2:18  For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
