Proverbs
Chapter 4
1 Hear, ye children, the
instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
Psalms 34:11 Come, ye
children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the
LORD.
Prov 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and
forsake not the law of thy mother:
2 For I give you good
doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
3 For I was my father's
son, tender and only
beloved in the sight of my mother.
1 Chr 29:1 Furthermore David
the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son,
whom alone God hath chosen,
is yet young
and tender, and the work
is great: for
the palace is
not for man, but for the LORD God.
4 He taught me also, and
said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my
commandments, and live.
1 Chr 28:9 And thou, Solomon
my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with
a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD
searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations
of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee;
but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to
wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of
the Lord.
Prov 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the
apple of thine eye.
5 Get wisdom, get
understanding: forget
it not; neither decline from the words of my
mouth.
Prov 2:2-3
2
So that thou incline
thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to
understanding;
3
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge,
and
liftest up thy voice for understanding;
6 Forsake her not, and
she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
2 Thes 2:10 And with all
deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they
might be saved.
7 Wisdom
is the
principal thing;
therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting
get understanding.
Matt 13:44 Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field;
the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy
thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that
field.
Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful:
and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be
taken away from her.
8 Exalt her, and she
shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when
thou dost embrace her.
1 Samuel 2:30 Wherefore the
LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed
that thy house,
and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever:
but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that
honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be
lightly esteemed.
9 She shall give to
thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she
deliver to thee.
Prov
1:9 For they shall be
an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy
neck.
3:22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy
neck.
10 Hear, O my son, and
receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
Prov 3:2 For length of days,
and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
11 I have taught thee in
the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
12 When thou goest, thy
steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou
shalt not stumble.
Psalm
18:36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me,
that my feet did not slip.
91:11
For he shall give his angels charge over
thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
91:12
They shall
bear thee up in
their hands, lest thou dash
thy foot against a stone.
13 Take fast hold of
instruction; let her
not go: keep her; for she
is thy life.
14 Enter not into the
path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil
men.
Psalm 1:1 Blessed
is the man that
walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in
the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Prov
1:10-15
10 My son, if sinners
entice thee, consent thou not.
11
If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait
for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without
cause:
12
Let us swallow
them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down
into the pit:
13 We shall find all
precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14 Cast in thy lot among us;
let us all have one purse:
15 My son, walk not thou in
the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
15 Avoid it, pass not by
it, turn from it, and pass away.
16 For they sleep not,
except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken
away, unless they cause
some to fall.
Psalm 36:4 He deviseth
mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way
that is not
good; he abhorreth not evil.
Isaiah 57:20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be
devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath
spoken it.
17 For they eat the
bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18 But the path of the
just is as
the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the
perfect day.
Matt 5:14
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill
cannot be hid.
Phil 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons
of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and
perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
2 Sam 23:4 And he
shall be as the light of the morning,
when the sun
riseth, even
a morning without clouds;
as the tender
grass springing
out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
19 The way of the wicked
is as
darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
1 Sam 2:9 He will keep the
feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in
darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
Job 18:5-6
5
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put
out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
6
The light shall
be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out
with him.
20 My son, attend to my
words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart
from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
Prov 3:3,21
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy
neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound
wisdom and discretion:
Prov 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my
commandments with thee;
22 For they
are life unto
those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Prov
3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy
bones.
12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword:
but the tongue of the wise
is health.
23 Keep thy heart with
all diligence; for out of it
are the issues
of life.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and
perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine
eyelids look straight before thee.
26
Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways
be established.
27 Turn not to the right
hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
Duet
5:32 Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God
hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right
hand or to the left.
28:14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words
which I command thee this day,
to the right
hand, or to
the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Joshua 1:7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that
thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which
Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it
to the right
hand or to
the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
Isaiah 1:16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of
your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Romans 12:9 Let
love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good.
