Proverbs Chapter 24
1 Be
not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with
them.
Psalms
37:1 (A Psalm
of David.) Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be
thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
73:3 For I was envious at the foolish,
when I saw the
prosperity of the wicked.
Prov 3:31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of
his ways.
2
For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of
mischief.
3
Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it
is established:
4
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all
precious and pleasant riches.
5 A
wise man is
strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
Prov 21:22 A wise
man scaleth the
city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the
confidence thereof.
6
For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in
multitude of counsellors
there is
safety.
Luke 14:31
Or what king, going to make war
against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth
whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh
against him with twenty thousand?
7
Wisdom is
too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
Psalms
10:5 His ways
are always grievous; thy judgments
are far above
out of his sight: as
for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
8
He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous
person.
Romans 1:30 Backbiters, haters
of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil
things, disobedient to parents,
9
The thought of foolishness
is sin: and the
scorner is
an abomination to men.
10
If thou
faint in the day of adversity, thy strength
is small.
11
If thou forbear to deliver
them that are
drawn unto death, and
those that are ready to be slain;
Psalms 82:4 Deliver the poor
and needy: rid them
out of the hand of the wicked.
Isaiah 58:6-7
6 Is not
this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of
wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the
oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7
Is it not
to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the
poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the
naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself
from thine own flesh?
1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love
of God, because
he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down
our lives for
the brethren.
12
If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that
pondereth the heart consider
it? and he that
keepeth thy soul, doth
not he know
it? and shall
not he
render to every
man according to his works?
Prov 21:2 Every way of a man
is right in
his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
Psalms 62:12 Also unto thee, O Lord,
belongeth
mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his
work.
13
My son, eat thou honey, because
it is good; and
the honeycomb, which is
sweet to thy taste:
14
So shall
the knowledge of wisdom
be unto thy
soul: when thou hast found
it, then there
shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
Psalm 19:10 More to be desired
are they
than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey
and the honeycomb.
15
Lay not wait, O wicked
man, against the dwelling of the righteous;
spoil not his resting place:
16
For a just man
falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked
shall fall into mischief.
Psalm 34:19 Many
are the
afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him
out of them all.
Mic 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall,
I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD
shall be a
light unto me.
Ester 7:10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had
prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.
Amos 5:2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more
rise: she is forsaken upon her land;
there is none
to raise her up.
17
Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine
heart be glad when he stumbleth:
Job 31:29 If I rejoiced at the
destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when
evil found him:
Obad 12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of
thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither
shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in
the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have
spoken proudly in the day of distress.
18
Lest the LORD see it,
and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19
Fret not thyself because of evil
men, neither be
thou envious at the wicked;
Psalm 37:1 (A
Psalm of David.) Fret not thyself because of
evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of
iniquity.
20
For there shall be no reward to the evil
man; the candle
of the wicked shall be put out.
21
My son, fear thou the LORD and the king:
and meddle not
with them that are given to change:
Romans 13:7 Render therefore
to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute
is due; custom
to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
1 Peter 2:17 Honour all
men. Love the
brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
22
For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the
ruin of them both?
23
These things
also belong
to the wise. It is
not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
Lev 19:15 Ye shall do no
unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the
person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty:
but in
righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
Duet 16:19 Thou shalt not
wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take
a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and
pervert the words of the righteous.
24
He that saith unto the wicked, Thou
art righteous;
him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
Isaiah 5:23 Which justify the
wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the
righteous from him!
25
But to them that rebuke
him shall be
delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
26
Every man
shall kiss his
lips that giveth a right answer.
27
Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the
field; and afterwards build thine house.
1 King 5:17And the king
commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones,
and hewed
stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
28
Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and
deceive not
with thy lips.
Eph 4:25 Wherefore putting
away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we
are members one of another.
29
Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will
render to the man according to his work.
Matt 5:39
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever
shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other
also.
30
I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of
the man void of understanding;
31
And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns,
and nettles had
covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was
broken down.
Gen 3:18 Thorns also and
thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat
the herb of the field;
32
Then I saw, and
considered it
well: I looked upon it,
and received instruction.
33
Yet a
little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the
hands to sleep:
Prov 6:9 How long wilt thou
sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
34
So shall thy poverty come
as one that
travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
