Prov
Chapter 19
1
Better is
the poor that walketh in his integrity, than
he that is
perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
Prov 28:6 Better
is the poor
that walketh in his uprightness, than
he that is
perverse in his
ways, though he be
rich.
2
Also, that
the soul be
without knowledge, it
is not good; and he that hasteth with
his feet
sinneth.
3
The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart
fretteth against the LORD.
Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD,
and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him
who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth
wicked devices to pass.
4
Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from
his neighbour.
Prov 14:20 The poor is hated
even of his own neighbour: but the rich
hath many
friends
5 A
false witness shall not be unpunished, and
he that
speaketh lies shall not escape.
Exodus 23:1 Thou shalt not
raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to
be an unrighteous witness.
6
Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man
is a friend
to him that giveth gifts.
Prov 29:26 Many seek the
ruler's favour; but
every man's judgment
cometh from the
LORD.
Prov 17:8 A gift is as
a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it:
whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
7
All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do
his friends go far from him? he pursueth
them with
words, yet
they are
wanting to him.
Prov 14:20 The poor is hated
even of his own neighbour: but the rich
hath many
friends.
Psalms 38:11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my
sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
8
He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth
understanding shall find good.
Prov 16:20 He that handleth a
matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the
LORD, happy is
he.
9 A
false witness shall not be unpunished, and
he that
speaketh lies shall perish.
10
Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to
have rule over princes.
Prov 30:22 For a servant when
he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;
11
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and
it is his glory
to pass over a transgression.
James 1:19 Wherefore, my
beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to
speak, slow to wrath
Prov 16:32 He that is
slow to anger is
better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than
he that taketh a city.
12
The king's wrath is
as the roaring of a lion; but his favour
is as dew upon
the grass.
Prov 16:14 The wrath of a king
is as
messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
Hosea 14:5 I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow
as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
13
A foolish son is
the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife
are a
continual dropping.
Prov 10:1 The proverbs of
Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son
is the
heaviness of his mother.
Prov 21:9 It is
better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a
brawling woman in a wide house.
Prov 21:19 It is
better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious
and an angry woman.
14
House and riches are
the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife
is from the
LORD.
2 Cor 12:14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to
you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not
yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the
parents, but the parents for the children.
Prov 18:22 Whoso
findeth a wife findeth a good
thing, and
obtaineth favour of the LORD.
15
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul
shall suffer hunger.
Prov 6:9 How long wilt thou
sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Prov 10:4 He becometh poor that dealeth
with a slack
hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
16
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul;
but he that
despiseth his ways shall die.
Luke 10:28 And he said unto
him, Thou hast answered right: this do,
and thou shalt live.
17
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and
that which he hath given will he pay him again.
2 Cor 9:6 But this
I say, He which
soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which
soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
18
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul
spare for his crying.
Prov 13:24 He that spareth his
rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him
betimes.
19
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou
deliver him,
yet thou must do it again.
20
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be
wise in thy latter end.
Psalms 37:37 Mark the perfect
man, and
behold the upright: for the end of
that man
is peace.
21
There are
many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of
the LORD, that shall stand.
Heb 6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto
the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel,
confirmed it
by an oath:
22
The desire of a man is
his kindness: and a poor man
is better than
a liar.
23
The fear of the LORD
tendeth to life: and
he that hath it
shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
1 Tim 4:8 For bodily exercise
profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all
things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that
which is to come.
24
A slothful man
hideth his hand in his
bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
Prov 15:19 The way of the
slothful man is
as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous
is made plain.
25
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one
that hath understanding,
and he will
understand knowledge.
Duet 13:11 And all Israel
shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such
wickedness as this is among you.
Prov 9:8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a
wise man, and he will love thee.
26
He that wasteth his
father, and
chaseth away his
mother, is
a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
Prov 17:2 A wise servant shall
have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part
of the inheritance among the brethren.
27
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction
that causeth to
err from the words of knowledge.
28
An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the
wicked devoureth iniquity.
Job 15:16 How much more
abominable and filthy
is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
29
Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the
back of fools.
Prov 26:3 A whip for the
horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.
