Proverbs Chapter 16
1
The
preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the
tongue, is
from the LORD.
Jer 10:23 O LORD, I know that
the way of man is
not in himself: it is
not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
Matt 10:19
But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye
shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour
what ye shall speak.
2
All the ways of a man
are clean in
his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
Prov 21:2 Every way of a man
is right in
his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
1 Sam 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his
countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have
refused him: for the
LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on
the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
3
Commit
thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be
established.
Psalm 37:5 Commit thy way unto
the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring
it to pass.
4
The
LORD
hath made all things
for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Isaiah 43:7
Even every one
that is called by my name: for I have created him for my
glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Job 21:30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of
destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of
wrath.
5
Every
one that is
proud in heart is
an abomination to the LORD:
though hand
join in hand,
he shall not be unpunished.
Prov 8:13 The fear of the LORD
is to hate
evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the
froward mouth, do I hate.
Prov 11:21 Though
hand join
in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of
the righteous shall be delivered.
6
By
mercy
and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD
men depart
from evil.
Dan 4:27 Wherefore, O king,
let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy
sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy
to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
Prov 14:16 A wise
man feareth,
and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is
confident.
7
When
a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to
be at peace with him.
8
Better
is a little
with righteousness than great revenues without right.
Psalms 37:16 A little that a
righteous man hath is
better than the riches of many wicked.
9
A man's
heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
Prov 19:21
There are many
devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the
LORD, that shall stand.
Jer 10:23 O LORD, I know that the way of man
is not in
himself: it is
not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
10
A divine sentence
is in the lips
of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
11
A just weight and balance
are the LORD'S:
all the weights of the bag
are his work.
Lev 19:36 Just balances, just
weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I
am the LORD
your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.
12
It is
an abomination
to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established
by righteousness.
Prov 25:5 Take away the wicked
from before
the king, and his throne shall be established in
righteousness.
13
Righteous lips
are the delight
of kings; and they love him that speaketh
right.
Prov 14:35 The king's favour
is toward a
wise servant: but his wrath is
against him
that causeth shame.
14
The wrath of a king
is as
messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
Prov 19:12 The king's wrath
is as the
roaring of a lion; but his favour
is as dew upon
the grass.
15
In the light of the king's countenance
is life; and
his favour is
as a cloud of the latter
rain.
Prov 19:12 The king's wrath
is as the
roaring of a lion; but his favour
is as dew upon
the grass.
Job 29:23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they
opened their mouth wide
as for the
latter rain.
16
How much better
is it to get
wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen
than silver!
Prov 8:11,19
11
For wisdom
is better than
rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be
compared to it.
19
My fruit
is better than
gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice
silver.
17
The highway
of the upright is
to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his
soul.
18
Pride
goeth
before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19
Better
it is to be
of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil
with the proud.
20
He
that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso
trusteth in the LORD, happy
is he.
Psalms 34:8 O taste and see
that the LORD is
good: blessed is
the man that
trusteth in him.
21
The
wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of
the lips increaseth learning.
22
Understanding
is a
wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the
instruction of fools is
folly.
Prov 13:14 The law of the wise
is a
fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
23
The
heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to
his lips.
24
Pleasant words
are as an
honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health
to the
bones.
25
There
is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof
are the
ways of death.
Prov 14:12 There is a way
which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof
are the ways of
death.
26
He that
laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of
him.
Eccl 6:7 All the labour of man
is for his
mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.
27
An
ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips
there is as a
burning fire.
28
A froward
man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
Prov 15:18 A wrathful man
stirreth up strife: but
he that is slow
to anger appeaseth strife.
Prov 17:9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love;
but he that repeateth a matter separateth
very friends.
29
A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and
leadeth him into
the way that is
not good.
Prov 1:10 My son, if sinners
entice thee, consent thou not.
30
He shutteth his eyes to devise froward
things: moving his
lips he bringeth evil to pass.
31
The hoary head
is a crown of
glory, if
it be found in the way
of righteousness.
Prov 20:29 The glory of young
men is
their strength: and the beauty of old men
is the gray
head.
32
He
that is slow to anger
is better than
the mighty; and he
that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Prov 19:11 The discretion of a
man deferreth his anger; and
it is his glory
to pass over a transgression.
33
The lot
is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof
is of the LORD.
