Proverbs Chapter 14
1 Every wise woman
buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with
her hands.
Or despisest thou the riches of
his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing
that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
2 He that walketh in his
uprightness feareth the LORD: but
he that is
perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3 In the mouth of the
foolish is
a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve
them.
Prov The words of the wicked
are to lie
in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall
deliver them.
4 Where no oxen
are, the crib
is clean:
but much increase is
by the strength of the ox.
5 A faithful witness
will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
Prov 14:25 A true witness
delivereth souls: but a deceitful
witness
speaketh lies.
Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy
neighbour.
Exodus 23:1 Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not
thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
Prov 6:19 A false witness
that speaketh
lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Prov 12:17 He that
speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false
witness deceit.
6 A scorner seeketh
wisdom, and findeth it
not: but knowledge is
easy unto him that understandeth.
Prov 8:9 They
are all plain
to him that understandeth, and right to them that find
knowledge.
Prov 17:24 Wisdom is
before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool
are in the
ends of the earth.
7 Go from the presence
of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not
in him the lips
of knowledge.
8 The wisdom of the
prudent is
to understand his way: but the folly of fools
is deceit.
9 Fools make a mock at
sin: but among the righteous
there is
favour.
Prov 10:23
It is as sport
to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath
wisdom.
10 The heart knoweth his
own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his
joy.
11 The house of the
wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the
upright shall flourish.
Job 8:15 He shall lean upon
his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast,
but it shall not endure.
12 There is a way which
seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof
are the ways
of death.
Prov 16:25 There is a way
that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof
are the ways of
death.
Romans 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof
ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things
is death.
13 Even in laughter the
heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth
is heaviness.
Prov 5:4 But her end is
bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
Eccl 2:2 I said of laughter,
It is mad: and
of mirth, What doeth it?
14 The backslider in
heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man
shall be satisfied
from himself.
Prov 22:3 A prudent
man foreseeth
the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and
are punished.
15 The simple believeth
every word: but the prudent
man looketh
well to his going.
16 A wise
man feareth,
and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is
confident.
17
He that is soon
angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is
hated.
18 The simple inherit
folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 The evil bow before
the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 The poor is hated
even of his own neighbour: but the rich
hath many
friends.
Prov 19:7 All the brethren of
the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far
from him? he pursueth
them with words,
yet they
are wanting
to him.
21 He that despiseth his
neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy
is he.
Psalms 41:1 (To the chief
Musician, A Psalm of David.) Blessed
is he that
considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of
trouble.
Psalms 112:9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor;
his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be
exalted with honour.
22 Do they not err that
devise evil? but mercy and truth
shall be to
them that devise good.
23 In all labour there
is profit: but the talk of the lips
tendeth only to
penury.
24 The crown of the wise
is their
riches: but
the foolishness of fools
is folly.
25 A true witness
delivereth souls: but a deceitful
witness
speaketh lies.
Proverbs Verse 14: 5 A
faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will
utter lies.
26 In the fear of the
LORD is
strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of
refuge.
27 The fear of the LORD
is a
fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Prov 13:14 The law of the
wise is a
fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28 In the multitude of
people is
the king's honour: but in the want of people
is the
destruction of the prince.
29
He that is slow
to wrath is
of great understanding: but
he that is
hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
James 1:19 Wherefore, my
beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to
speak, slow to wrath:
30 A sound heart
is the life of
the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Psalms 112:10 he wicked shall
see it, and
be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away:
the desire of the wicked shall perish.
Prov 12:4 A virtuous woman
is a crown to
her husband: but she that maketh ashamed
is as
rottenness in his bones.
31 He that oppresseth
the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him
hath mercy on the poor.
Prov 17:5 Whoso mocketh the
poor reproacheth his Maker:
and he that is
glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
Matt 25:40 And the King shall answer
and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye
have done it
unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done
it
unto me.
Prov 22:2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD
is the
maker of them all.
32 The wicked is driven
away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his
death.
Job 13:15 Though he slay me,
yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways
before him.
Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou
art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
2Cor 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves,
that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which
raiseth the dead:
2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every
evil work, and will preserve
me unto his
heavenly kingdom: to whom
be glory for
ever and ever. Amen.
33 Wisdom resteth in the
heart of him that hath understanding: but
that which is
in the midst of fools is made known.
Prov 12:16 A fool's wrath is
presently known: but a prudent
man covereth
shame.
34 Righteousness
exalteth a nation: but sin
is a reproach
to any people.
35 The king's favour
is toward a
wise servant: but his wrath is
against him
that causeth shame.
Matt 24:45
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath
made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due
season?
