Proverbs Chapter 15

 

 

1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Prov 25:15  By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.

1 Samuel 25:10  And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.

2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

Prov 12:23  A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Job 34:21  For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.

Heb  4:13  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

5 A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

Prov 10:1  The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

Prov 13:18  Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

Isaiah 1:11  To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

Jer 6:20  From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

Amos 5:22  Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

Prov 21:21  He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

1Tim 6:11  But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

1 King 22:8  And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

Prov 5:12  And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

Job 26:6  Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

Psalms 139:8  If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

2 Chron  6:30  Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)

John 2:24  But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men

12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

Amos 5:10  They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

2 Tim 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Prov 17:22  A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Prov 12:25  Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

14 The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

Prov 17:22  A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

Psalms 37:16  A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

1 Tim 6:6  But godliness with contentment is great gain.

17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

Prov 17:1  Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Prov 26:21  As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

Prov 22:5  Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

20 A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

21 Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.

Prov 10:23  It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom

Eph 5:15  See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

Prov 11:14  Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

Prov 25:11  A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

Phil 3:20  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Col 3:1-2 
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

25 The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.

Prov 12:27  The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

Psalms 68:5-6 
5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
6 God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

Prov 6:16-18 
16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

Psalms 37:30  The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

Isaiah 5:8  Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

1 Peter 3:15  Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Psalms 10:1 Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

Psalms 34:16  The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Psalms 145:18  The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.

31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

Prov 15:5  A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent

32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

Prov 1:7  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Prov 18:12  Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
