Thou
Shalt Not Take the Name
of thy Lord, Thou God, in Vain
Exodus 20:7
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD
thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold
him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Matthew 5:33 Again, ye have heard that
it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not
forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine
oaths:
Matt 23:16 Woe unto you,
ye
blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the
temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold
of the temple, he is a debtor!
Matt 23:24 Ye
blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Matt 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the
blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into
the ditch.
Lev 19:12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely,
neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I
am the LORD.
Matt 5:33-7
33
Again, ye have heard
that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not
forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine
oaths:
34
But I say unto you,
Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
35
Nor by the earth; for
it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the
city of the great King.
36
Neither shalt thou
swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair
white or black.
37
But let your
communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more
than these cometh of evil.
Duet 23:23 That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt
keep and perform; even
a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the
LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.
Numbers 30:2 If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an
oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his
word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of
his mouth.
Psalm 66:13-14
13 I will go into thy
house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,
14 Which my lips have
uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
Duet
5:11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in
vain: for the LORD will not hold
him guiltless
that taketh his name in vain.
