1 And seeing
the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was
set, his disciples came unto him:
2 And he opened
his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Blessed are the poor in
spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
And he lifted up his eyes on
his disciples, and said,
Blessed be ye
poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.
receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the
poor have the gospel preached to them.
blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in
beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world
rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath
promised to them that love him?
Purge me with

them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the
spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of

Blessed are ye that hunger now:
for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep
now: for ye shall laugh.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye
shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye
